Mosaic and glass
Mosaic bench, glass to the ceiling.
A bench inside the shower, and a niche lit from behind.
The room
A loft shower room under a pitched ceiling, planned around a full-height glass enclosure with a built-in bench.
The room sits under the slope of the roof, with a timber-framed roof window overhead doing most of the lighting. Walls and floor are large-format porcelain in cream and pale grey, and the plaster reveals around the window are left white so the daylight carries into the room.
The enclosure is frameless glass taken up to the ceiling, held on polished chrome patch fittings rather than a frame. Inside it a bench runs the full width with a curved sloping backrest, clad in small square glass mosaic. Above the bench a long horizontal niche is lined in gold and beige mosaic and lit from behind, which is the one warm note in an otherwise cool room.
Everything metal is polished chrome and repeated: a square rainfall head, a slide rail and handset, a rectangular control plate, and a flat-bar towel radiator on the wall opposite. The tray is low profile with a square waste cover set flush into it.
